RELIGION:
This is Our Faith by Silver, Burdett & Ginn helps students gain a deeper understanding of our religious beliefs and traditions. The focus is on a loving Jesus being with us in all of our life experiences.

FAMILY LIFE:
Family Life by Benziger provides a blueprint for how to help Catholic families live their faith.

LANGUAGE ARTS:
Scott Foresman Reading is a comprehensive program that includes reading, phonics, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and comprehension. All of these areas are intertwined to provide a multifaceted program. The components include technological support for teachers, parents, and students with an emphasis on addressing different learning styles.

MATHEMATICS:
Mathematics-California Edition, McGraw Hill, complies with all California and Archdiocesan math standards. The text is written to helkp students develop proficiency in conceptual understanding, problem-solving abilities, and computational and procedural skills.

HANDWRITING:
DNealian Handwriting by Scott Foresman is a method of handwriting that uses a cursive-like alphabet, thus easing the transition from manuscript to cursive writing in the second grade.

HISTORY AND SOCIAL SCIENCE:
School and Family-California Edition by Houghton Mifflin is aligned with the California and Archdiocesan history and social science standards. The text helps students learn more about their world as they focus on content areas such as citizenship, geography, patriot ism and community, multiculturalism and globalism, and economics.

SCIENCE:
First grade science focuses on leading students through investigation of the world around them. The children explore concepts in physical science, earth science, and life science. Select topics include plants and animals and their habitats, weather and seasons, and states and properties of matter.

OTHER:
The children also participate in weekly physical education, computer, and music programs.
